The report describes the R$ 50,000 loss suffered by a 36-year-old man who exchanged photos with a supposed young woman on social media and was then extorted by criminals posing as the girl's father, claiming she was a minor and later staging her death with a forged death certificate and burial video. The report recalls that groups of this kind have been arrested in southern Brazil and that the scams can be run from inside prisons.
