Exclusive Fala Brasil report on criminals who pose as bank and shop call-centre staff to gain access to victims' phones and banking passwords, with a simulated call to a toll-free number received by text message. Digital crime expert Adriano Vallim follows the call and establishes that the fraudster already had the victim's full name, bank and registered e-mail address, which points to a data leak at the financial institution. He explains the next stage of the scam, in which the victim is induced to install an app that captures the password and freezes the screen while transfers are made, and recommends never calling numbers or clicking links received by message.
