The report follows the case of a public servant whose data was used by a fraudster for four years, with eight bank accounts opened, loans taken out and the criminal even appearing as claimant in court proceedings. The victim discovered a remote hearing in which the fraudster was posing as her and exposed her live. The digital crime specialist states that the image and the metadata recorded by the video conference platform would allow the connection to be traced and the device used by the fraudster to be geolocated.
